窪圖勛蹋厙s will kick off its 50th anniversary celebration on Friday, January 9, at 11:00 a.m. on the Rollie Carrillo Quad. 窪圖勛蹋厙 President Stephen Weber, 窪圖勛蹋厙-IV Dean Stephen B.W. Roeder and other officials will be present at the ceremony to unveil related events planned for 2009.

The fiftieth anniversary celebration is so important because it not only recognizes 50 years of service from 窪圖勛蹋厙 to the Imperial Valley community, but it also denotes the beginning of the next 50 years of even greater contributions to the economic, social and cultural life of Imperial County, says Dean Roeder.

窪圖勛蹋厙-IV is dedicated to supporting and serving the Imperial Valley community. Generations of Imperial Valley residents have received a higher education there, and the campus continues to provide qualified and educated community leaders to the region.

With its location in Calexico, just 6 blocks from the Mexican border, the campus creates a rich, bicultural environment for students. Faculty are multinational in their classroom orientation and background, and agreements with universities around the world have facilitated foreign students studying at the campus and study abroad opportunities for 窪圖勛蹋厙-IV students.

The campus offers bachelors degrees in a wide variety of areas, including computer science, international business, Latin American studies and psychology. Masters degrees can be obtained in education, public administration and business administration. In recent years 窪圖勛蹋厙-IV added degrees in nursing and criminal justice to respond to community need for well-trained professionals in those fields.

窪圖勛蹋厙-IV also offers a unique Freshman Scholars Program for high school seniors interested in continuing their higher education by remaining close to home. A select group of 50 graduating high school seniors are selected each year to enroll, and their first year of tuition is waived.
