Chemistry Ph.D. student reflects on ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø experience in final year of program
Gonto Johns returned to school after 20 years in industry, gaining career-boosting skills while exploring sustainability solutions
After 20 years as a pharmaceutical chemist, Gonto Johns set out to further build the leadership skills needed to take his career to the next level.
He enrolled in ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø and UC San Diego’s joint doctoral program in chemistry, where he pursued his passion for researching renewable energy solutions that are cleaner, less costly and help reduce greenhouse gases.
Here, he shares his ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø experience as he looks forward to graduating in 2026.
